A Special Mothers' Union Day.

On Wednesday May 4th. St. Philip’s and St. Matthew’s Mothers Union celebrated the joining of their two long established branches.

We were pleased to welcome M U members and officials from the whole Diocese  including Pat Johnson, our Diocesan President, Revd. Peter Bryers, Chaplain, Vice Presidents, Unit Co-ordinators and Anne Lloyd, our Presiding Member and many members from Newcastle West Deanery.

On arriving, many of our visitors commented on the beauty and grandeur of our church.

An inspiring and joyous service of  Solemn Evensong and Benediction, was the highlight of the afternoon, which included the blessing of the beautifully redesigned banner which now incorporates both branch names.

Afternoon tea followed at the Vicarage with the usual splendid Mothers’ Union spread where our visitors voiced their appreciation of the wonderful service, music and hospitality.

St. Philips and St. Matthews MU members wish to thank Father Richard for compiling and leading the service and organising the alterations to the banner, to Aidan for the beautiful music, to the servers, to Anne Lloyd for the readings and to all who contributed to this special occasion.
